Mother’s death compounds grief for Pastor Koh’s wife
At candlelight vigil, Susanna Liew speaks of regret that her husband was not by her mother’s side when she passed away.
PETALING JAYA: The wife of Pastor Raymond Koh, saddened by the demise of her mother a few days ago, regrets that her husband was not able to see his mother-in-law before she passed on, The Star reported.
At a candlelight vigil at the Kelana Jaya lake here last night, Susanna Liew was emotionally distraught as she continued to share the suffering the family are having to endure without a husband and a father.
“We miss him a lot, especially the past few days when my mother passed away and he was not with us to see her for the last time.
“It’s already 35 days since he was taken and we do not have news about his whereabouts and who has taken him,” Liew was quoted as saying by the daily.
Pastor Koh remains missing after 36 days since his abduction on the morning of Feb 13, while he was driving in Kelana Jaya on the way to a friend’s place.
There were a few hundred people who joined the missing pastor’s family – Liew, son Jonathan, and two daughters – at the candlelight vigil.
“I think my husband will be very encouraged and grateful for all the support coming from people of different races and religions.
“I want to know where my husband is, who took him and if he is alive, but I do not want to go the way of hatred and anger,” she said, according to The Star.
Koh, 62, was abducted by a group of masked men on Jalan SS4B/10, less than 100 metres from the Police Housing Complex in Kelana Jaya on Feb 13. He was driving a silver Honda Accord bearing the licence plate ST 5515 D.
He was on his way to a friend’s house in Kelana Jaya when he was abducted in what CCTV footage has shown to be a well-executed plan involving more than 10 men and seven vehicles in broad daylight.
His family is offering a reward of RM100,000 for information on his whereabouts.
On March 15, a man was charged with extorting RM30,000 from the family members of missing Pastor Koh.
Lam Chang Nam was charged under Section 385 of the Penal Code for allegedly blackmailing Koh’s son, Jonathan, with a promise to secure the pastor’s freedom.

Police said investigations had proven that Lam had nothing to do with Koh’s kidnapping and that he was just taking advantage of the incident and the lack of any ransom demands since the kidnapping.
