Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Iskandar Mohd Kaus said the action (of issuing the letter) was the work of certain parties out to belittle the position of the prime minister for their political ends.
He said the prime minister’s office was informed that certain irresponsible parties had circulated the letter, purportedly from Najib, to get contributions and loyalty.
“The false letter which was distributed used the government’s official stationery and was supposedly signed by the prime minister himself. It was sent to the chairmen and chief executive officers of private organisations and government companies,” added Iskandar in a statement here tonight.
He said the prime minister’s office had lodged a police report on the circulation of the false letter.
