Mirror, mirror on Jamal’s wall
DAP rep Yeo Bee Yin presents Red Shirts leader with a mirror so he can take a ‘look at himself’.
Unfortunately, Jamal was not on hand to receive the gift, which was inscribed with the words “Nothing To Hide”.
Yeo turned up at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office here today, where the Red Shirts leader was expected to file a report on her alleged involvement in the embezzlement of Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) funds.
Yeo, the assemblywoman for Damansara Utama, waited for over 20 minutes for Jamal, who did not show up. Instead, his lawyer, Mohd Imran Tamrin, lodged the report on his behalf.
So Yeo decided that he should also accept the gift on Jamal’s behalf.
She also brought along 10 files of documents on payments related to the Senior Citizens Friendly Scheme under Yawas.
“I came today because I believe we should be transparent and because I am not afraid. I have passed the relevant documents to the land department.
“I’m also here to give Jamal a special present, which is a mirror, so he can look at himself. Don’t practise double standards.
“I have also provided an explanation to the MACC regarding all the allegations Jamal made about the accounts I supposedly embezzled,” she told a press conference outside the commission’s office.
On March 14, Jamal alleged that politicians in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor had embezzled Yawas funds instead of disbursing the money to eligible recipients.
He identified DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, DAP’s Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim and a PKR rep whom he did not name as the alleged culprits.
Jamal also showed reporters a name list of individuals who were supposed to receive the funds, but did not.
Yeo said the document presented by Jamal were related to the land and district office.
On Tuesday, Jamal lodged a police report against Yeo, alleging she was involved in misusing the funds.
He alleged Yeo had taken money allocated for welfare although no one had passed away. He added that he had information from the beneficiaries who did not receive money due to them.
The atmosphere today was a little tense as Jamal’s supporters appeared annoyed by Yeo’s presence.
“Yeo, are you with the MACC, and did you make a date with Jamal? Let MACC investigate first,” an unidentified Red Shirts member called out to her.
However, Imran Tamrin, who was speaking to reporters after lodging the report, commended Yeo for being there to help the MACC in its investigation.

“We leave it to the MACC to investigate if there was any leakage or misuse of funds,” he said.
