ALOR SETAR:
A woman motorcyclist was killed in a collision between her motorcycle and a car driven by a teenager.

Lijah Mat Hashim, 65, died on the spot in Kampung Musa in Kuala Nerang near here about 5pm yesterday. The motorcycle was dragged for about 20 metres.

The Star quoted Padang Terap district police chief Deputy Supt Ahmad Nasir Jaafar as saying the car collided with the motorcycle when the rider came out from a lane and tried to cross the road.

“The driver failed to brake in time and rammed into the bike killing the senior citizen on the spot. She then lost control of her car and landed in a ditch,” The Star quoted Ahmad as saying.

According to Ahmad, the 16-year-old driver did not possess a driving licence. A passenger, also 16, escaped with light injuries.

The Star quoted a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman as saying they sent a team to the spot after receiving a call about 5.15pm.

“When we reached the place, we saw a motorcycle had been knocked down and the car was in a ditch,” said the spokesman.
