Still no compensation for cleaning lady who went blind

PETALING JAYA: A cleaning lady who went blind after a workplace accident has yet to receive compensation from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) despite repeated applications.

According to a report in The Star quoting Tamil Nesan, S Rathina, 52, said she lost her sight after some cleaning chemicals splashed into her eye in May 2011.

At the time, the report said, she was working as a cleaning lady at a school on contract with a company. The report said she was certified blind in 2015.

Since then, it added, the mother of six has been unable to work, leaving her husband to support their family which has been suffering financially.

Although she has repeatedly applied for compensation, she told the Tamil paper that her case remains under review.
