PASIR PUTEH :
The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) will summon prominent lawyer-cum-activist Siti Kasim to record a statement following her remarks on the existence of god which are deemed deviationist.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the state Islamic religious department can take action if the lawyer had committed an offence.

“They can take action according to the Islamic enactment related to crime, faith and the spread of ideas that can destroy Islam,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) and the health department, here today.

Asyraf said the Jakim approach was to call up Siti Kasim to discuss her remarks on the existence of god made to an online Chinese news portal recently.

“We do not want to lower her dignity and only want to get it straight from her mouth. I hope that she will turn up,” he added.
