PETALING JAYA: Parti Warisan Sabah president Mohd Shafie Apdal is ready to help the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigations.

He said he was given to understand that investigations regarding Mara, an agency which fell under his former portfolio of rural and regional development minister, were still proceeding.

In a statement issued today, the Semporna MP said he was willing to offer his cooperation anytime but hoped MACC would inform him early so that he could plan his activities better.

“I am ready to cooperate with MACC,” said Shafie, without elaborating.

Shafie was dropped from the Cabinet in 2015 and subsequently resigned from Umno.

Some news reports today had indicated that MACC may question him about the RM3.3 billion Sabah Water Department graft and power abuse scandal.

However, Shafie made no mention of the scandal in his short statement.

MACC detained more than 20 people in relation with the SWD case and recovered more than RM190 million in cash and assets.

Last Dec 29, former SWD director Ag Mohd Tahir Ag Talib, his wife Fauziah Piut, and former SWD deputy director Lim Lam Peng were charged with 37 counts of misappropriating infrastructure funds.
