PETALING JAYA:
The mother of a six-year-old boy who died after being left in a van for three hours says she has forgiven the van driver for his negligence but nevertheless wants the law to be upheld.

Jumrah Thamrin, Muhammad Iqram Danish’s mother, said in an interview with The Star that she would leave it to the police to investigate the matter.

“I have forgiven him (van driver) but that is between me, him and God. The law still needs to be upheld,” she was quoted as saying.

Police in Gombak said the 21-year-old van driver had taken Iqram and two others to kindergarten in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, at 2pm last Friday.

However, the driver failed to notice that Iqram had fallen asleep at the back of the van and had never alighted from the vehicle with the two others. He drove home and parked his vehicle, only realising that Iqram was still there at 5pm when it was time to fetch the children from kindergarten.

Iqram was rushed to Hospital Sungai Buloh where he was pronounced dead.

According to reports, the driver is being investigated under Section 31 (1) of the Child Acts 2001 for negligence.
