PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded a statement from the former deputy president of the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPeim) in connection with misappropriation of funds involving RM223,000 in 2015.

According to an MACC spokesperson, the 69-year-old woman arrived at the commission’s headquarters here at 1pm. She spent four hours there.

Yesterday, a 47-year-old senior director of YaPeim had been remanded for five days to facilitate investigations under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.

An MACC source said the suspect was believed to have abused his position for his own interests and colluded with the former deputy president in misappropriating funds.

The money was “supposedly” to be allocated for a donation programme involving the poor people in the district of Rompin during a parliamentary by-election in 2015, the source said.
