
The two men aged 38 and 46 were arrested at the MyEG office in Chai Leng Park, Prai.
They were remanded here for five days after an application was made to the High Court by the MACC today.
Assistant registrar Muna Maria Azmi allowed the remand order under Section 16 (b) (A) of the MACC Act 2009 on the duo for soliciting and obtaining gratification or bribes.
They were represented by lawyer Cheah Eng Soon.
Bernama reported yesterday that a total of seven men and two women were arrested in Penang, Perak, Selangor and Johor on suspicion of offering bribes in the course of renewing the temporary work permits (PLKS) of foreign workers in the four states.
Citing an MACC source, it said the arrests were carried out simultaneously at 11am to nab the suspects aged between 33 and 50, who were believed to be linked to a separate syndicate in each state.
On March 2 this year, MyEG informed Bursa Malaysia that it had signed a concession agreement with the Malaysian government to provide online renewal of temporary employment passes for foreign workers for the Immigration Department.
It said the total estimated value for the project from May 23, 2015 to May 22, 2020 was approximately RM553.85 million.
