Puchong rape-robbery suspect dies in 12th floor plunge

Police say incident happened at 10.10pm yesterday as suspect tried escaping a raid at his house.

KUALA LUMPUR: A 22-year-old youth who was suspected of committing rape and robbery in Bandar Kinrara Puchong on May 11 died after falling from the 12th floor of the Seri Semarak people’s housing project here, last night.

Serdang District Police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said the incident happened at 10.10pm while the suspect was trying to escape from police during a raid at his house.

“Police broke down the door after the suspect refused to open it. He tried to escape to the unit below by clinging to the grill in the kitchen.

“Although persuaded, he refused to surrender before plunging,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the man was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital before being confirmed dead.

According to Megat Mohd Aminuddin, the suspect had a criminal record for drugs. The case has been classified as sudden death.

On Tuesday, an Indonesian woman, aged 33 and a Bangladeshi man, aged 34 years lodged a police report at the Serdang District Police Headquarters about a rape and robbery.

Another suspect aged 26, was detained on Sunday in Kuala Selangor.

On May 13, a video on the rape by two men in Puchong went viral in social media.
