PAS exco Iskandar Abdul Samad, in charge of housing, building management and urban settlement, in response, said this would put an end to speculation and comments over their status in the state government.
“With Tuanku’s decree, we can now focus on working and serving the people because that is what we have been doing since being elected in 2013,” he told reporters after attending a ground-breaking ceremony for a new development project by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) in Section 24 here.
Iskandar added that as elected assemblymen they must maintain the stability of the state.
Earlier today, the Selangor ruler said in a statement that he agreed with Menteri Besar Azmin Ali to maintain the status quo in the state government after discussing PAS’ and PKR’s end of political cooperation.
According to the statement, the sultan had met Azmin, who informed him of the current situation in the state government. The sultan also held a meeting with Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi and the three excos concerned.
Azmin, who was present at the ground-breaking event, said he was happy with the sultan’s decree.
“This shows the sultan listens to the people who want leaders to adhere to the mandate given to them during the last general election,” he said.
He also told certain irresponsible individuals to stop making speculations about the state government.
On May 11, PAS’ Syura Council endorsed the decision of the party’s muktamar (general assembly) on April 30 to end its “tahaluf siyasi” (political cooperation) with PKR.
This led to calls for the resignation of PAS assemblymen in the state executive council.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the excos would not budge from their posts unless they were directed to do so by Sultan Sharafuddin.
