Ismail Sabri: Take stern action against Sivarasa

Previously, non-Muslim PKR and DAP members who used mosques to give talks were warned not to repeat it but this is still happening, he says.

BERA:
Umno supreme council member Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged stern action be taken against Subang MP R Sivarasa for making a speech in the prayer hall of the An-Nur Mosque in Kampung Melayu, Subang, recently.

Sabri said the PKR leader’s action in using the mosque for his political agenda clearly showed his disrespect for the religion.

“Previously, non-Muslim PKR and DAP political members who had used the mosques to give talks were warned not to repeat it but this is still happening.

“It looks like they are not bothered by the sultan’s decree and are belittling our religion.

“It is all right to make a speech outside the mosque under a tent but not inside the prayer hall,” he told reporters after presenting aid to nearly 136 asnaf (needy) at Masjid Darul Fikri here today.

“As such, I hope stern action will be taken as a deterrent to others because they have already been warned several times.”

In JOHOR BAHRU, Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin said for years it had been established that only certified Muslim preachers were allowed to give lectures in mosques and surau in the state.

He said so far there had been no case of non-Muslims found giving lectures in mosques or surau.

“It is just not right to enter the mosque to give a talk.

“Moreover, you cannot simply give a religious talk in the mosque or surau because only those with proper credentials are allowed to do so,” he told reporters after presenting Ramadan gifts at Dewan Taman Cendana, Pasir Gudang, here today.

On May 31, Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was reported to have been upset and disappointed with Sivarasa for giving a political speech at the An Nur Mosque, which had also raised the ire of the local community.
