
Choong, who is doing her Master’s degree at King’s College London, told The Star that she could hear the ambulance and police sirens even from Stockwell, which is about half an hour away from where the attack took place.
“I would very likely have been walking in the area if my family had not been in town. My hostel is close to the scene,” she said in the report.
Seven people were killed and 48 injured in the attack which took place on Saturday night.
According to media reports, a white van had swerved and hit several pedestrians on the south side of London Bridge. Three men then exited from the vehicle and ran towards Borough Market, where they started stabbing people who were out enjoying the night.

The attack was the third such terrorist incident in the UK since March.
The Islamic State has since claimed responsibility for the London attack. It reportedly sent out a call on messaging service Telegram early on Saturday, urging its followers to carry out attacks with trucks, knives and guns against “crusaders” during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
There are reportedly 60,000 Malaysians in Britain, including some 17,000 students.
So far, no Malaysians have been reported affected in the attack. The foreign affairs ministry says it is closely monitoring the incident with the local authorities and advised Malaysians residing around the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow the instructions given by local authorities.
