
He said this was evident when petrol prices increased and he was blamed for it.
“Yet, when the price of petrol goes down, as it did yesterday, no praises are forthcoming.
“People should congratulate the prime minister, but this isn’t the case,” he said, drawing laughter from Prasarana Malaysia Berhad personnel, who he was talking to at a town hall meeting here this evening.
Yesterday, it was announced that the price of RON95 petrol will go down five sen per litre to RM2.05 (from RM2.10) this week while RON97 will be priced at RM2.31 (from RM2.38), down 7 sen.
Najib said a government-linked company like Prasarana – a transport operator – must improve its services as public transport was a matter dear to the people’s hearts.
Prasarana, he said, must implement a zero mistake policy to ensure their services ran smoothly.
“Sometimes, when a mistake is made by a technician or the system crashes, the government is blamed.
“People will always then blame the PM.”
Najib also said his job as the prime minister was the “most stressful one in the world”.
“And this is something I can vouch for.”
The people, he lamented, also never appreciated the government’s efforts to ensure Malaysia remained a prosperous nation.
