PUTRAJAYA:
The education ministry has started investigations into a video clip that went viral on social media, showing a group of students in school uniforms, bullying and teasing another “drunk” student, said deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan.

Kamalanathan said the incident took place outside and not in school. He said this to reporters when met at the Hari Raya open house hosted by Prime Minister Najib Razak and cabinet ministers at Seri Perdana here today.

The two-minute video clip uploaded by Facebook account holder Malaysian Tamilar Kural on Thursday, shows eight students pushing and shoving a “drunk” fellow student as well as hurling profanities at each other.

Kamalanathan said the ministry viewed such cases, especially bullying, seriously, and would take all the necessary steps to resolve the discipline problems of students with the aim of wiping out bullying in and outside of schools.

He said the education ministry welcomed views, opinions and constructive criticism from the people to resolve the issue of bullying.
