Former Sarawak minister Daud Rahman dies

He was a former minister in the Chief Minister's Office (Islamic Affairs).

KUCHING:
Former minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Daud Abdul Rahman died at the Timberland Medical Centre (TMC) today.

He was 66.

Daud’s daughter, Siti Masitah, 34, said he died of heart complications at 4.10pm following admission to TMC on Wednesday.

“Father had complained of abdominal pains since the first day of Raya (Sunday) before going to TMC on Wednesday.

“About 2.30pm, my father became lifeless, and the doctors confirmed his death at 4.10pm,” she said when met at the family home here today.

Daud, who had served as Tupong state assemblyman for five terms, withdrew from contesting in the state elections last year.

He is survived by widow Noraini Hussin, 64, and their three children, comprising a son and two daughters.

The burial is scheduled to be held at the Samariang Cemetery tomorrow.
