At 1.30am yesterday, two Form One students claimed that they were beaten by several senior students, resulting in one of them having to seek treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu.
The incident was allegedly sparked by the two students’ reluctance to abide by the senior students’ orders.
Another student, who also claimed that he was beaten by the same senior students at the surau and hostel last Monday, sought treatment at the same hospital.
Terengganu education director Shafruddin Ali Hussin said the college had been given 10 days to conduct an investigation and submit a report to him.
State Education, Science, Technology and Government Transformation Committee chairman A Latiff Awang expressed regret that yesterday’s incident was the third at the college.
After visiting the injured students at the hospital, he told reporters the education department and college had been directed to take measures to ensure there was no repeat of the incident.
He said that between January and October, 16 cases of bullying had been recorded in the state, involving 45 students.
