“My boss (Khalid Abu Bakar) is better than me. (But) I will rectify.
“I need to enhance my capabilities in handling IT and Twitter,” he told reporters at a function here.
The former Special Branch chief was asked if he will be as social media-friendly as the previous IGP, who retired yesterday.
Fuzi, 58, who took over the top cop post yesterday from Khalid, said he does not even have a Twitter account and is thinking of opening one.
Khalid was the first IGP to be active on Twitter and often posted announcements there about police success in fighting crime and warnings.
Twitter users landed themselves in trouble after posting defamatory and seditious messages against Khalid and other top government officials.
In 2015, BBC dedicated a full-length piece, detailing Khalid’s use of Twitter via his handle @kbab51 for complimenting police for carrying out successful operations, issuing warnings to the public against criticising the government, royalty or Islam, and even ordering arrests of wrongdoers.
Khalid had defended his Twitter policing and said: “I’m monitoring sedition online because most of the irresponsible politicians and NGOs have a large following.”
