Earlier today, Rafizi branded See-To a coward after See-To had rejected his offer to debate with him on tax collected by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
However, in a statement issued today, See-To said he had never rejected the offer.
“Did I say no to your debate request? No, I didn’t.
“I said one month later as I wanted to watch your on-going skirmishes with your Pakatan colleagues and allies,” he said.
“Which part of ‘ask me again one month later’ does Rafizi not understand?”
In turning down Rafizi’s request for a debate yesterday, See-To had said there was no urgency to hold one.
He said he did not want to “disrupt” the Pandan MP while he was in the midst of “fights” with his own party members.
He also said Rafizi’s challenge was nothing more than an attempt to divert attention from PKR’s internal squabbles.
“Rafizi should only ask me for a debate again in a month’s time.
“Perhaps in a month’s time, Rafizi’s internal fights could be over or he could have left or have been sacked from his party,” See-To had said, referring to Rafizi’s spat with fellow PKR members as well as activist Ambiga Sreenevasan.
See-To also asked Rafizi about the allegations the PKR vice-president’s colleague, Latheefa Koya, had made recently.
“Is it your lack of patience that led you to conceive the ill-fated ‘Kajang Move’, which is widely-believed to be an utter failure?
“True enough. Hours after I had replied to Rafizi, his colleague from PKR posted a scathing revelation that apparently paints Rafizi as a failed strategist, a person who is even willing to mislead his own party leaders and who is a vengeful person willing to deny his own party deputy president from becoming menteri besar.”
Latheefa recently had a Facebook post on the 2014 incident, which eventually led to the ousting of former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim and him (Khalid) being replaced by Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Without naming anyone, she claimed that the “architect” of the “Kajang Move” made it happen as a strategy to prevent Azmin from getting the post.
Latheefa and Rafizi are on opposite sides of the debate in PKR on the need to continue talks on an electoral pact with the party’s former ally, PAS.
Over the past week, Latheefa has made scathing remarks on social media against a certain PKR leader without mentioning names, though Rafizi, when pressed by the media, said the posts were obviously aimed at him.
Rafizi had refused to respond to the Facebook post.
“Perhaps YB Rafizi should debate Miss Latheefa Koya first before debating me if YB Rafizi does not agree with what she said?” See-To asked.
“If you are too scared to debate her, it would mean that the public perception is that what she revealed about you is correct.”
See-To also said that if it were true he was a coward for supposedly refusing to debate with Rafizi, then that would make the Penang chief minister and DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua cowards too.
“About three months ago, Lim Guan Eng said he had no choice but to sue me. However, he failed to carry out his threat. Does this mean that Guan Eng is a coward?
“In the end, I sued Guan Eng instead and the suit is up for case management on Sept 20. I left it to the court to decide who had defamed whom.
“Also, about three weeks ago, when Tony Pua had commented on the controversial Penang Tunnel project, I publicly challenged him to a debate on the tunnel.
“Tony Pua did not respond at all. So, going by Rafizi’s definition, does this mean that Tony is a coward too?”
