MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad said that they will announce the decision once the AGC replies to them.
“Just wait for the next course of action from us,” he told reporters when asked on the status of Lim’s case.
Dzulkifli was attending an event with Prasarana Malaysia Bhd at the Masjid Jamek and Bangsar LRT stations here, where the commission collaborated with Prasarana to promote anti-graft initiatives to the public.
Last week MACC said they will be taking Lim to court after he refused to apologise for describing the detention of Penang senior executive councillor Phee Boon Poh, as illegal.
MACC had detained Phee in connection with an illegal carbon filter factory in Bukit Mertajam.
On Aug 14, Phee and two factory bosses were freed from detention by the Penang High Court, after being detained for three days.
“MACC respects the right of anyone to criticise the body but it will not tolerate false statements about MACC’s investigation that are intended to undermine MACC’s image and reputation,” the commission had said.
Dzulkifli had on Aug 25 given Lim 48 hours to issue an unconditional apology to the commission or face legal action.
“(The remark) was defamatory of a government agency which has no agenda in discharging its duty. We regard the matter as serious because it is our right,” he said.
The commission added that it would not take a person’s political ideology or position into account in its investigations.
