PUTRAJAYA: Human Resources Minister Richard Riot spent 10 hours with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today to assist in investigations into the alleged misappropriation of RM40 million from the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK).

Riot showed up at the anti-graft agency’s office here at 10am, just days after the MACC arrested his political secretary and four others in its probe into allegations that millions of ringgit, initially meant to train jobless individuals since 2016, were misappropriated.

The 61-year-old political secretary was arrested at 12.30pm on Wednesday under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act.

When met outside the MACC’s headquarters, the Serian MP said he was there to help the agency in their investigations.

He also said he did not hand over any documents.

When asked to explain why he spent 10 hours at the MACC headquarters, Riot said, “It’s normal”.

On Sept 13, the CEO of PTPK as well as its secretary, finance assistant officer, and a company director were detained by the MACC over the same case.

They were remanded for six days from Sept 14 and released on MACC bail.

MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad had on Wednesday said that the anti-graft agency did not rule out the possibility of more arrests in relation to the case.
