PETALING JAYA:
Zaid Ibrahim says he intends to actively campaign against PAS in Kelantan in the next general election, to ensure the party is defeated.

Calling it necessary for the good of the Malays, the former minister said the Islamist party represents the worst of human nature.

“They are greedy and hypocrites. They tell lies in the name of God,” he said, adding that only a PAS defeat in Kelantan in the next general election can help the Malays.

“This is because Malays will be poor as long as they are obsessed with PAS’ teachings, which distracts them from developing their human potential.”

He added it was imperative that Malays progress economically and remain moderate in their outlook.

“They must go back to the days when they were a tolerant and happy people.

“They must go back to the days when they were able to develop their well-known entrepreneurial skills and business ways,” he said, adding that this also applied to the Malays being able to grow while keeping their culture and traditions respected.

“PAS’ teachings will only make Malays culturally deprived, mentally weak and economically irrelevant.”

Zaid, who joined DAP earlier this year, also rubbished the comments from a local academic who said that the close ties between Umno and PAS would be good for the country because it would bring stability.

“He even suggested that hudud and the amendment to Act 355 would be positive because it would please Malays and hence bring stability, which would, in turn, bring foreign investment.

“This academic is a moron. There will not be stability when the poor Malays have their hands chopped off for stealing while rich Malays can steal with impunity,” Zaid said.
