KUALA LUMPUR:
Disciplinary action will be taken against the five policemen who were caught conducting an unauthorised search on foreigners in the Dang Wangi area recently, Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department head Abdul Rahim Hanafi said yesterday.

He said members of the police force had been warned on numerous occasions that any inspection of foreign citizens should only be carried out with the immigration department.

“We will take action against them for breaching the stipulated standard operating procedures (SOP),” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the police would not compromise with policemen who conducted inspections of foreigners without authority.

“We will not compromise and will take stern action against policemen, regardless of their rank, if they are found committing such an offence,” he said.
