He said a 47-member team carried out the inspection to assess if there was any damage and found only minor ones on the route up the mountain.
“The inspection started from the Timpohon Gate to the Low’s Peak at 4,095 metres above sea level. The accommodation building in the Panalaban area is also unaffected,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the inspection team comprised personnel from Sabah Parks, guides, porters, Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) team members, staff of Sutera Sanctuary Lodges and Mountain Torq.
As an additional step to ensure the situation was safe again, Sabah Parks director Jamili Nais with nine staff members, Mosar personnel as well as SSL staff would be spending the night in Panalaban (3,272 metres above sea level) tonight, he said.
A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Ranau at 9.06pm last night and a total of 239 people, including 130 climbers were in Panalaban during the incident and were brought down with the help of Mosar personnel and the mountain guides.
