KOTA KINABALU:
Confident of retaining the island constituency in the coming general election (GE14), Labuan Barisan Nasional (BN) is concentrating all its plans on boosting its winning majority.

Its election machinery is working on ways to get the electorate to come out in full force to increase the majority to 8,000 votes from 6,629 in GE13, a gain of 20%, Labuan MP Rozman Isli told FMT.

Rozman, who is also Labuan BN chairman, launched a general election dry run on the island on Saturday, and its outcome has confirmed his confidence.

He said the BN election machinery was at its highest level of preparation.

“Our election machinery this time around is better than the one in the last election.

“We also have a good relationship with several NGOs and I’m sure our machinery will be able to draw more support from the voters.”

Some 500 representatives from 17 polling districts and the Labuan BN election machinery were given a briefing during the practice run.

Rozman won his parliamentary seat in 2013 with 12,694 votes, ahead of Ibrahim Menudin of PKR, who got 6,069 votes, and PAS’ Hadnan Mohamad (386 votes).
