This was followed by foreigners from Thailand, India, Cambodia and the Philippines, the home ministry said in a written parliamentary reply today.
It was replying to Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang), who asked for the total number of applications received since 2013 according to gender, age, race and religion.
The ministry said the highest age group comprised those from 22 to 70 (42,581), followed by those aged 12 and below (30,257). Those between 13 and 21 numbered 15,592, while the smallest group was those over the age of 71.
Of the total, 40,500 were males.
The ministry said their religion was not stated as it was not a requirement for application for permanent resident status.
