He also questioned whether Lim’s exclusion was due to a request by Beijing.
“There could be a misunderstanding or this could be due to the government’s action that has upset the Chinese government,” Annuar Musa said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Annuar said there had also been claims that Lim was behind several raids by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Chinese companies.
Earlier, Lim’s special officer Tony Pua suggested that the China Petroleum Pipeline Company (CPPC) was paying 1MDB debts using funds for its oil pipelines projects in Malaysia.
The company has strongly denied this, prompting former prime minister Najib Razak to urge Lim and Pua for an explanation.
Daim undermining Anwar?
Annuar also urged Putrajaya to come clean on claims of attempts to stop Anwar Ibrahim taking over from Mahathir as agreed by Pakatan Harapan.
This comes after PKR MP Abdullah Sani on Saturday openly accused Putrajaya’s chief adviser Daim Zainuddin of being behind a campaign to stop Anwar from becoming the prime minister.
“He (Abdullah) said it a few times,” Annuar said during a debate in the Dewan Rakyat.
Annuar said the allegation by Abdullah at a pro-Rafizi event in Seremban could affect PKR deputy president and Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali. Rafizi, who is challenging Azmin for the number 2 post in PKR, has aligned himself with Anwar.
Annuar also questioned how Azmin would be able to manage his ministry when he faced accusations of undermining Anwar who is tipped to be the eighth prime minister.
