The day began with considerable apprehension as I pictured the long queues I would have to endure when tasked to take my brother to a government hospital to obtain a letter pertaining to a medical condition he developed after a road accident.
I decided to take a drive to Klang and ended-up at the Klinik Kesihatan Anika and it was a wise decision, by default. Within minutes upon registration, we were called in to have his BP checked. In another 10 minutes, Medical Officer Dr Poongkodi calmly explained that she could not issue the letter we requested for an injury that happened eight years ago.
However we did leave the clinic with a referral to the Ortho Specialist at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR).
Visiting the clinic after 35 years, I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency with which it was run. All systems were in place from the moment my brother and I walked in, leaving nothing to chance. This I felt, contributed to a shorter waiting time for the various services.
At the specialist clinic, more wonders awaited us. Having just received the referral, we were not expecting to see the specialist the same day, what more with the waiting room teeming with patients who had come with prior appointments.
Again to my surprise, we got to see the Ortho Specialist Dr Samuel Jonathan who ordered for an X-ray, that was done in 30 minutes. We returned to see Dr Samuel with the X-ray in hand for a detailed diagnosis which he gave pleasantly and professionally.
Thanks to the efficiency we experienced, we could head out of the hospital at 12 noon with the medication, a follow-up appointment and the much-needed letter in hand. Such a sense of satisfaction!
The hospital mind you, was a hive of activity with the doctors, nurses and admin staff scurrying about discharging their duties with the kind of diligence that I have never seen before.
I wish to congratulate Klinik Anika and the HTAR community for doing a great job. This just goes to show that there are still many things around us that we can be grateful for.
