PETALING JAYA:
A man who allegedly hit a woman driver on the head and made threats against her has been arrested by the police.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the 29-year-old suspect was arrested in Serdang, Selangor, today after the 24-year-old driver lodged a report.

“The suspect, a supervisor at a factory in Serdang, was brought to the Tapah police headquarters for further investigation after his arrest,” Yusri said in a statement.

He said the incident happened at about 5.30pm yesterday while the woman was driving from Cameron Highlands to Tapah with her 17-year-old brother.

She had attempted to overtake a car that was in front of her but failed.

“The suspect then showed her an obscene gesture. As the road was getting congested near the Lata Iskandar waterfall, the man got down from his vehicle and knocked on the victim’s car window.

“When she lowered her window, the suspect scolded her and hit her on the head while making threatening remarks,” he said.

The case is being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and outraging the modesty of a person.

A video of the incident had gone viral earlier.
