Ex-senator and Sarawak assemblyman Lihan Jok dies

Lihan Jok was Telang Usan assemblyman from 2001 to 2011 and also served as a senator for two terms.

PETALING JAYA:
Former senator and Telang Usan assemblyman Lihan Jok died today. He was 66.

According to The Borneo Post, current Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau confirmed Lihan’s passing, saying he had been in hospital for the past few weeks.

“Yes, it is true. I have received many messages since a few hours ago on Datuk Lihan’s passing,” said Ngau.

Lihan was a two-term assemblyman, serving the Telang Usan state constituency from 2001 to 2011 before being succeeded by Ngau.

He was then elected by the Sarawak state assembly as a senator in 2011 before being re-elected for a second term in 2014.

He was a Kayan who hailed from Long Bedian in Baram and a member of Gabungan Parti Sarawak lynchpin Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu.
