Police said the 25-year-old performer, better known as Emy, died on the spot from serious head injuries in the 1pm accident.
According to Tuaran police chief Dzulbaharin Ismail, Emy was riding his Kawasaki Z800 towards Ranau when the accident happened.
“Investigations revealed the victim lost control of his bike when negotiating a hillside bend and got into the opposite lane before running into the three-tonne lorry,” Dzulbaharin told FMT.
“We are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”
Emy, who hailed from Tuaran, was a member of the Buska Basker band which performs actively in Kota Kinabalu and in nearby districts.
The winner of rock singing contest JoHaRockStar 2016 and protege of the band Estranged had held a performance in Tuaran a few days before his death.
The youngest in a family of four siblings started performing at the age of 12.
Friends and fans have expressed their condolences on Emy’s Facebook account named Emy Papriqa.
