
Of this, 1,183 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 621 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 251, followed by Sabah (239) and Johor (237).
A total of 20,399 patients were also discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 36% of their total capacity of 838 beds.
ICU beds in four regions have exceeded 50% capacity, namely Kelantan (83%), Kuala Lumpur (65%), and Johor (65%).
One hundred and ninety-one patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 36% of their maximum capacity.
The use of normal Covid-19 beds has also exceeded 50% capacity in most states.
They are Kelantan (101%), Selangor (97%), Perak (90%), Kuala Lumpur (87%), Perlis (81%), Putrajaya (77%), Johor (75%), Pahang (71%), Sabah (71%), Penang (52%), Terengganu (52%), and Sarawak (52%).
In terms of public hospitals’ total capacity (Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients), non-critical beds were at 72% while 60% of ICUs were in use.
There were also 14 clusters reported yesterday.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 1.13.
