MOSCOW:
One of Moscow’s most luxurious hotels, the Ritz-Carlton, has changed its name after Marriott International said it was suspending its operations in Russia over the Kremlin’s offensive in Ukraine.

The Ritz-Carlton Moscow, located a short stroll away from Red Square and offers rooms with views of the Kremlin, has been renamed The Carlton Moscow.

It has a new website, www.carltonmoscow.com, and a new logo.

The Carlton Moscow was not immediately available for a comment today.

The five-star hotel was operated by the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, a subsidiary of Marriott International.

In March, Marriott International said it was “deeply saddened by the horrific violence impacting the people of Ukraine” and was suspending its operations in Russia.

Hundreds of western companies including McDonald’s and Coca-Cola have suspended operations or left the country altogether after President Vladimir Putin sent troops to Ukraine on Feb 24.
