According to Mosti, MYStartup NXT aims to create over 5,000 quality startups by 2030 by helping them to access the startup ecosystem support and benefits, and empowering them to scale up.
With Kuala Lumpur already being one of the top 25 emerging ecosystems globally, MYStartup NXT will be held across the country – starting from Cyberjaya today and followed by Sarawak, Penang and Sabah – in order to maximise the potential of other parts of Malaysia.
The programme was launched by Mosti through one of its agencies Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd.
Mosti minister Chang Lih Kang said that MYStartup NXT is part of the government’s efforts to cultivate accessible innovation and support long-term startup development “in line with Malaysia Madani’s aspirations, one of which is to build an innovative and high-tech nation”.
Meanwhile, Cradle’s ecosystem development senior vice-president Kashfi Alwi said MYStartup NXT series will grow the country’s startup ecosystem equitably and ensure that every local startup community – whether from the Klang Valley, the northern or southern region, the east coast or even East Malaysia – does not miss out on receiving the programme’s benefits.
“Mosti through Cradle reaffirm the commitment to create an ever-sustainable ecosystem that is inclusive, to see all local startups flourish and scale up at a competitive level,” Kashfi said.
Today’s event also saw the launch of the MYStartup annual report which highlights the organisation’s achievements and impact on the Malaysian startup ecosystem in its first year.
Apart from that, MYStartup also introduced MYStartup Dev – a data-centric, community-driven platform exclusively designed to connect tech talents with talent development partners and upskilling programmes.
“MYStartup Dev will guide and teach new skills for career advancement, nurture networking with industry experts, and stay current with the latest skills and technologies, ultimately unlocking the full potential of young local tech talents in Malaysia,” the Mosti statement read.
