
The gains marked a shift from the last three days when major indices have been pressured by worries about worsening inflation that have pushed bond yields upward.
The yield on the 30-year US bond hit a 19-year high on Tuesday.
About 10 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat at 49,360.56.
The broad-based S&P 500 added 0.2% at 7,367.33, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 0.3% to 25,954.49.
Stocks have been buffeted the last few days by “a combination of energy prices and fears of inflation,” said Art Hogan of B. Riley Wealth Management.
The pullback in yields and oil prices “is a bit of a more positive catalyst than we’ve seen in three days.”
Shares of Nvidia rose 0.2% ahead of its quarterly results later Wednesday.
