SC announces 4 new senior appointments

Appointments made as it aims to build more efficient capital markets.

The Securities Commission Malaysia says the new appointments will further strengthen its capabilities and effectiveness to promote market growth and integrity.

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has announced four new senior appointments as it aims to build a more relevant, efficient and diversified capital market.

“Their combined wealth of knowledge and experience will further strengthen SC’s capabilities and effectiveness to promote market growth and integrity in a rapidly evolving environment that embraces sustainability, competition and innovation,” said its chairman Awang Adek Hussin.

SC has appointed Azalina Adham as executive director of strategy and policy, a newly created business group.

Leveraging her vast experience in the financial and capital markets, Azalina will help drive SC’s strategic direction in a number of critical areas, including corporate planning, risk management and international relations to further develop the capital market, it said.

SC has also appointed media and communications specialist Abdul Jalil Hamid as executive director, strategic communications and chairman’s office with a primary role of sharpening SC’s engagement and communication strategy with key stakeholders.

The commission promoted Wong Huei Ching to executive director of digital strategy and innovation. Her appointment serves to further the potential of digital and innovation towards shaping a capital market that is more inclusive and sustainable for businesses and investors, it said.

In addition, it also appointed a new director of enforcement, Budiman Lutfi Mohamed.

Budiman will lead SC’s investigation, prosecution and civil enforcement work.
