Ex-Bursa chairman Shireen joins Media Prima as independent director

Shireen Ann Zaharah Muhiudeen, whose career spans over 30 years in financial services and the corporate sector, was a member of the Economic Action Council (EAC).

Former Bursa Malaysia chairman Shireen Ann Zaharah Muhiudeen has been appointed as an independent director of Media Prima effective from Aug 1.

Shireen’s career spans over 30 years in the financial services and corporate sector, with a strong track record in emerging Asia equity markets, according to a statement by Media Prima.

A strong advocate of corporate governance best practices and environment, social and governance (ESG) activism, Shireen, 59, has served on several boards of public-listed companies. She helmed Bursa Malaysia from March 2019 to April 2020.

She was the founder, managing director and principal fund manager of Corston-Smith Asset Management, an independent asset management company that was an early signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI), a position she held from 2004 to 2019.

Before that, she was the CEO of AIG Investment Corporation (Malaysia).

Shireen was also a member of the Economic Action Council as well as a board member of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).
