From July 1, get ready to be inundated with thrilling rock-bottom bargains in the run-up to Hari Raya coupled with loads of in-store redemptions of every shape and form until Malaysia celebrates Independence Day on Aug 31, a media release from Tourism Malaysia said.
Held concurrently with the 1Malaysia Unified Sale organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, local shoppers and tourists alike will enjoy special offers from not only the shopping and retail sector but also from other sectors including banking, spas, hotels, transportation and telecommunications. With 15,958 branches from 3,424 companies nationwide to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice.
The 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival also offers an exciting line-up of themed events and fun-filled activities for dining, entertainment and leisure as well, so what’s there not to enjoy!
Another exciting feature of the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival is Miss SHOPhia, Malaysia’s ultimate shopping icon. Make sure you keep her within your line of vision at all times as she will guide and update shoppers on the best locations for the best offers, happenings and trends via her Facebook account at facebook.com/missshophia; Instagram @miss_shophia; and Twitter (twitter.com/missshophia).
Adding to its Aidilfitri cheer, Avenue K is organising a ‘Hunt for Miss SHOPhia’ online contest that requires participants to look for the trendy lady in any installation display at their shopping mall. Once you spot her, snap a creative and unique photo of yourself with her and upload it to Instagram right away using the hashtag #AKMS2016, #AvenueKMY and #1Malaysiamegasale2016.
Over at the Pavillion Kuala Lumpur, you can feast your eyes on the beautiful clothes the models will parade during the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready To Wear 2016. The event, a business-to-consumer platform for Malaysian designers to promote their ready to wear collections, will be held from Aug 17-21, featuring runway-worthy looks from more than 80 designers.
Jointly organised by Tourism Malaysia and Avenue K, the launch of 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival was officiated by Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Mirza Mohammad Taiyab.
The aim of the nationwide event, apart from offering great discounts to local customers, is to position Malaysia as the ultimate duty-free shopping destination for tourists from around the world.
To date, Kuala Lumpur has won several international shopping awards including the World’s 5th Best Shopping Destination by Expedia UK in 2016 and the 2nd Best Shopping Destination 2015 for Muslims in the OIC Destination based on CrescentRating and MasterCard Muslim Travel Shopping Index.
