The shortcuts have been introduced for “moments when you just want to catch up on the latest for topics of interest” according to the Google blog, such as what’s on at your local theater, recommendations on nearby restaurants, sport scores, quick-access tools and weather forecasts.
The update, which is available on the Google app for Android and iOS as well as Google.com via the mobile web (handheld devices), has only currently rolled out in the US.
