Ipoh never ceases to amaze whether it’s their long-standing heritage buildings or unique gastronomical offers.
Boasting a long list of must-visit places, here’s one more to check out if you want some quiet with friends – Burps & Giggles.

Situated along Jalan Sultan Yussuf, right next to Ipoh Kong Heng, Burps and Giggles occupies a colonial-era shophouse that used to be a dressmaker’s store.
Locating the place can be quite a challenge as there is no obvious signage on the facade but if you spot the words “U.S. Peter”, then you’ve found it.

Upon entering, you’ll walk into an open-air space specifically for smokers. To your right is a door that will lead you to an air-conditioned dining area.

The interior design is totally mesmerising with giant murals that are eye-catching and creative. There is also a quirky mix of antique and contemporary decor and furnishing populating the space, that will transport you right back to the 1980s.

Consider giving their espresso-based coffee a try – either the hot cappuccino or iced latte.

Both hot cappuccino and iced latte are satisfying and the price reasonable considering it is good quality coffee. For those seeking a real kick, go for a shot of pure espresso – that intense experience of strong and thick coffee is incomparable.

The menu here isn’t extensive consisting mainly of sandwiches, burgers, pastas, and pizzas. Their Cheeky Pizza however uses a baguette as its base – so, don’t expect a regular textured pizza crust. The toppings, however, were generous and decent enough to satisfy a hungry tummy.

Overall, the coffee was to die for but the pizza wasn’t much to shout about. The ambiance however was really refreshing and cozy – a perfect place to hang out with friends, making it more of a place to giggle than to burp.
