Social networks are part of the lives of millions of internet users around the world. But as some platforms rise, others fall out of favour. A recent study looks at the most liked and disliked social networks around the world.
The big winner is none other than TikTok: the Chinese social media giant emerges as the most popular social networking application in 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, Tanzania, Canada, Vietnam and Algeria.
Threads and Facebook follow in second and third place among the top-rated apps, in 15 and 12 countries, respectively.
Meanwhile, in France and in the United States, users love the BeReal app – touted as a simple photo-sharing platform that allows users to share their “real life” once a day – the most.
Yet, while they remain popular and highly ranked worldwide, Instagram and Facebook are not among users’ most loved platforms. They are appreciated mainly in 21 countries in Latin America and Asia, but are disliked in some 43 countries.
In fact, Facebook emerges as the most disliked social network in 39 nations, including the UK, Australia, France, Canada and India.
As for Instagram? Jordan, Oman, Algeria and Chile place the photo-sharing app at the top of the list of most disliked social media platforms.
Finally, Reddit takes second place among the lowest-rated applications in 30 countries, primarily in Europe in countries including France and Spain, as well as in North America.
