It holds a child’s medical history, immunisation records and growth milestones, and is brought along to every clinic visit for years.
Despite its importance, the “pink book” is often handled daily, tucked into bags, carried to appointments, and over time, easily worn out.
That was exactly what happened to Noor Eizie Eizyanie Safuan. During her second pregnancy, she noticed how quickly her child’s health record began to tear and lose its shape.
“I realised how easily it could get damaged,” said the 38-year-old, fondly known as Ezy. That small frustration sparked an idea.
She began creating protective covers for the book, something practical enough for everyday use, but also neat and cheerful to carry around.
Through her brand Ezloveycraft, Ezy now produces handmade covers designed specifically for the A5-sized health record.
Each cover comes with inner pockets for appointment cards and documents, helping parents keep everything in one place.
“The covers are made slightly loose so the book can expand as more pages and documents are added,” she said. They are also designed to be removable, allowing the original book to be kept intact.

Made from patterned cotton fabric and layered with protective plastic, the covers are both durable and visually appealing, a small upgrade to something parents use almost daily.
Each piece takes about an hour to complete, depending on demand via social media.
Ezy’s journey into crafting began long before the pink-book idea. Growing up in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, she learnt sewing from her mother, who took on small orders to support the family.
That early exposure stayed with her. While studying industrial design at Universiti Putra Malaysia, she began taking orders for handmade cushions to earn extra income.
Even after entering the workforce, she continued crafting on the side, saving for her wedding.
Today, she runs her business full-time from home in Rawang, offering various handmade products. The pink book covers, priced from RM35, remain among her most practical creations.
Her other items include ang pow-style wallets, passport covers, cardholders, tissue holders and Quran covers, with prices starting below RM20.
