PETALING JAYA: Nik Omar, the son to the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, is not a Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) member, The Malaysian Insider reported.
“The announcement made before this was a misunderstanding,” Kelantan Amanah chairman Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah told the news portal.
Wan Abdul Rahim, however, refused to state if Nik Omar supported the PAS splinter group and told the media at a press conference in Kelantan to clarify the matter with the man himself.
Two days ago, it was reported that the second son of the former Kelantan Menteri Besar was announced as the chairperson of Amanah’s Syariah Panel at a special dinner in Petaling Jaya.
The announcement, it was reported, was made by Kelantan Amanah communications director Nordin Hussin in Petaling Jaya.
Nordin, however, later denied there was any truth to his statement and said someone must have “misheard”.
