The president of the Malay-right wing group, pointed out that whenever there were issues concerning Islam and Malays, the DAP was quick to question it and argue about it.
The former Pasir Mas lawmaker cited DAP’s questioning of the New Economic Policy (NEP), which was aimed at narrowing the income disparity between the Bumiputeras and the non-Bumiputeras.
Lately, the secular party, he said, stated it was not anti-Malay or anti-Islam, a claim Ibrahim noted as “nothing new” but one that made him lose sleep nonetheless.
He said DAP also repeated this during the Pakatan Harapan conference, where they promised to defend Islam, Bahasa Malaysia, the sovereignty of the Malay rulers and Malay special rights.
“I was shocked when I heard such statements, I couldn’t sleep for 50 hours,” he said at a press conference.
Ibrahim said that personally, he would reject the party because DAP’s central committee leadership did not reflect the party’s so-called values.
“They said that it’s not a race-based party, but every important post in DAP is held by the Chinese.”
Malays, he added, did not even make up 30 per cent of the party’s leadership positions.
