PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor government was told to stick to its guns and ignore ‘Say No To DASH’, a group opposing the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH).

Adlan Abdul Razak, the deputy chairman of a pro-DASH movement said, detractors only represented a small minority, while the majority, he claimed, supported the construction of the expressway to streamline traffic.

“Only 2% of the residents are against it. The other 98% are for it. The state government should not pay too much attention to complaints, and think of those who are in support,” he told FMT.

Adlan warned that once the state government started paying attention to the complaints, it would end up entertaining more brickbats, which could derail the project.

“Putting it off will only raise construction costs and affect the rakyat even more.”

The anti-DASH movement alleged the Selangor government had not heeded their opposition to the highway’s construction.
Neither has it replied to complain letters sent years ago by the group.

Adlan, who is a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM) lecturer, said the state government had followed all the requirements before beginning construction.

Protests by the “Say No To DASH” group, he added, were baseless, citing the groups allegations that the highway was being built 11 meters from the residential areas.

“It is really 13 meters. Everything (the requirements) has been adhered to by the state government.”

He stressed that DASH could solve traffic woes not only in Shah Alam but also at Persiaran Surian, Kampung Melayu Subang, Subang Bestari, Subang Perdana and Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang.
