KUALA LUMPUR:
In what is believed to be a crime of passion, a 43-year-old man was shot dead while leaving a budget hotel in Jalan Kuchai Lama, here yesterday.

Brickfields police chief ACP Sharul Othman Mansor said according to a witness of the 6.15pm incident, the victim was shot by an assailant who came in a motorcycle.

“According to the witness, the suspect who was wearing a blue shirt, face mask and black helmet fired a shot at the victim and fled the scene,” he said in a statement.

Sharul said initial investigations revealed that the victim from Mentakab, Pahang, had a previous criminal record for drugs and was high on the police wanted list.

“Police will view CCTV recordings to gather more information,” he said.

The motive of the incident is believed to be jealousy but police are investigating the case to be classified as murder.
