Ahmad Bashah, 66, who is the 12th Menteri Besar of Kedah, took his oath before the Kedah Council of Regency chaired by Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.
The council members present were Tunku Hamid Thani Sultan Badlishah and Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
Also present were assemblymen and members of parliament in Kedah, as well as senior state government officers.
Yesterday, Kedah State Secretary Bakar Din named Ahmad Bashah as the new menteri besar of Kedah to take over from Mukhriz Mahathir.
The announcement was made soon after Mukhriz announced his resignation as the menteri besar with immediate effect after losing the support of the majority of his state assemblymen.
