KUALA LUMPUR: Suspended Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang wants Kedah Menteri Besar-designate Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah to produce his SPM certificate before the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday after official in the Department of Special Affairs (Jasa), Lokman Noor Adam, raised a controversy over whether Bashah only has Sijil Rendah Pelajaran (SRP) or Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) qualifications.
“He (Bashah) should produce his SPM certificate… to end once-and-for-all the rather undignified rigmarole about whether he has SRP or SPM qualifications.
“Unless Bashah could not produce any SPM certificate at all.”
Lim, who is also DAP Parliamentary Leader, said that “this is one of the chores Bashah should clear up before he takes his oath as Menteri Besar of Kedah”.
The other, added Lim, was for him to be honest, set a good example and openly apologise for sleeping as shown in a video during a ceremony at the Kedah Palace.
