PETALING JAYA: CIMB Group Chairman Nazir Razak likened the Najib-Mahathir political tussle as a battle between giants where the powerless “pelanduk” (mousedeer) are mere “collateral damage”.
His latest posting on Instagram captioned a black-and-white photo of two elephants locking horns: “Amazing pic reminds me of Malay saying “Gajah sama gajah berjuang, pelanduk mati di tengah-tengah”.
Nazir’s message foreshadows consequences of the raging battle between his brother and prime minister, Najib Razak, and his former mentor Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who, together with other political parties and civil society personalities, are leading a call for Najib’s resignation.
Among reactions to the Citizens’ Declaration signed on Friday are the #RespectmyPM on Twitter and its counter hashtag #Respectmynation.
